A pig ignites a smile, but is it a smile of appreciation for the wonder of all living things or that of an expectant appetite, eating the pig in anticipation.

Beneath the social contract lurk brutal realities of power and appetite. A pig’s protection by humans and its creaturely comforts seem to be limited by human hungers. It is just a matter of time before every pig’s blood trickles down into the pudding pan.
