About the Artist

Adolfo de Carolis (1874-1928), also de Karolis, was an Italian painter, xylographer, illustrator and photographer. Among his most popular works, many illustrations for Gabriele d’Annunzio’s novels and Giovanni Pascoli’s books of poems. He was also influential in the Italian Liberty movement. [DES-01/11]
