About the Artist

Eugène Froment (1820-1900) was a French painter, designer and printmaker was also called Jacques Victor Eugène Froment-Delormel.

His early work was as a designer for the Sèvres porcelain manufactory. Later Froment created paintings and murals for French churches and cathedrals, he also did peasant genre scenes, and engravings to illustrate works by Victor Hugo, Louis Ratisbonne and others.

He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1842 to 1880; from 1864 he could exhibit his works at the Salon without having to undergo selection by the jury. [DES-01/11]
