About the Artist

Bicci di Lorenzo, Italian, (1373 — 1452). Bicci di Lorenzo was an Italian painter and architect. He was the son and pupil of the artist Lorenzo di Bicci and continued the workshop founded by his father, then passing it on to his own son, Neri di Bicci. He completed works for the Medici's, for the Cathedral in Florence as well as altarpieces and frescoes for many monasteries, churches and families in Florence and in the surrounding countryside. The workshop flourished under his leadership for the entire first half of the 15th century.
