The work shown here is one of a set of 12 tapestries depicting 'The Hunts of Maximilian' in a zodiacal calendar format. The central figure on horseback, Maximilian I - Habsbourg king of Germany (1486-1519) - is the character killing the wild boar in this Capricorn tapestry for December.
