A pontifical (Pontificale) is the liturgical book which contains the rites for the performance of episcopal functions which are to be only celebrated by an officiating bishop.

Guillaume Durand (c. 1230-1296), also known as Durandus, Duranti or Durantis, was a French canonist and liturgical writer, and Bishop of Mende.
