About the Artist

Richard van Orley, Flemish, (1663-1732). Richard van Orley was a painter, draughtsman, etcher and most of his work depicted religious and mythological subjects.

Richard van Orley was the elder son and pupil of Pieter van Orley (1638 – 1708) and brother of fellow painter Jan van Orley (1665 – 1735). He collaborated with his brother Jan on several tapestries.
